Join a Board Committee

The Board of Keepers guides the mission, programs, and long-term health of the organization.

Board members and committee volunteers work together to develop ideas, plan strategically, and support important projects.

Current committees include:

- Finance

- Development

- Education

- Facilities

Committee service is a great way to contribute your skills and help shape the future of Burnt Island.

Volunteer Opportunities

Give tours of the Keeper’s House and lighthouse, Serve as a host for National Lighthouse Day and Maine Lighthouse Day, Event Set Up & Clean Up, Island Greeter, Education Program Helper.

Volunteers are at the heart of Burnt Island’s success. Opportunities include:

Give Tours

- Lead guided tours on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays or Saturdays

- Share the stories of the lighthouse and keeper’s house

- Help make every visit memorable and meaningful

 

Care for the Island

- Join seasonal clean-up days

- Help maintain walking trails,  grounds and gardens

- Support conservation and preservation efforts

 

Special Events & Programs

- Serve as a host for National Lighthouse Day and Maine Lighthouse Day

- Give tours of the Keeper’s House and lighthouse

- Guide visitors on walks around the island

Fundraising

Grant writing, event planning , administrative support
