Programs & Tours
There are many ways to experience Burnt Island throughout the season—from guided tours and special events to quiet afternoons exploring on your own.
Whether you’re visiting for the first time or returning year after year, there’s always something new to discover.
Getting to the Island
Most visitors reach Burnt Island by boat through our partner, Balmy Days Cruises, which provides regular ferry service and scheduled tours.

Special Events & Community Days
Throughout the summer, we host a full calendar of community events and celebrations.
Burnt Island offers immersive, hands-on educational experiences that bring Maine’s maritime history and coastal science to life. Through its overnight summer programs for children ages 8–12, participants step into the role of lighthouse keepers—exploring island ecology, conducting experiments, and building confidence through adventure and teamwork. School field trips for all ages provide engaging, curriculum-aligned opportunities to investigate marine ecosystems, navigation, and the rich history of the island. In addition, educator workshops equip teachers with place-based learning tools and resources they can bring back to their classrooms. Whether for students or educators, Burnt Island’s programs inspire curiosity, stewardship, and a lasting connection to the coast.
