Getting to Burnt Island is part of the experience. Whether you arrive by ferry, kayak, or your own boat, we look forward to welcoming you.

  • By Ferry — Most visitors travel to Burnt Island with Balmy Days Cruises, a family-owned business known for friendly service and deep local knowledge and Maine Maritime Museum in Bath. 

  • By Kayak — Adventurous visitors may reach the island by kayak. Kayak rentals and guided trips are available through Maine Kayak.

  • By Private Boat —Visitors are welcome to arrive by personal watercraft. Please follow posted guidelines and harbor regulations.

Before You Go

- Check seasonal schedules and ferry availability

- Review event dates in advance

- Bring sunscreen, water, and comfortable walking shoes

- Be prepared for changing coastal weather

- No food is available for purchase on the Island. You are welcome to bring your own picnic.

Balmy Days Cruises

Most visitors travel to Burnt Island with Balmy Days Cruises, a family-owaned business known for friendly service and deep local knowledge.

Their experienced crew is dedicated to safety, hospitality, and sharing the stories of Boothbay Harbor and the surrounding coast—making every trip both enjoyable and informative.

Regular Service

Scheduled trips on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Additional dates added seasonally.

Special trips for community events and celebrations

Balmy Days also partners with us for events such as Community Day, Movie Nights, and Maine Open Lighthouse Day.
